New Bedford Whaling Museum
July 28, 2006

DSCN0611.JPGBecause Tammy recently finished reading Moby Dick and a few other nautical books, this past Friday and Saturday, Moriah and I took her on a birthday outing to New Bedford, Massachusetts to tour the Whaling Museum and related things. The Whaling Museum and historical district were well worth the visit. Sadly, the city of New Bedford is in a horrible state of decline and even decay. Even the beaches are marred by adjoining factory buildings that are run down, some falling in. We did find a beach that instead of sand was covered in shells, two or three feet deep. It was a wonder to explore. We brought home a five-gallon bucket of shells for Tammy to make all kinds of girly things (Gallery).
